Reedbuck lamb

On Thursday morning as I was chatting to our friends from Norway, Karianne Jensen and Marius Houm, when we heard an agitated bleating not far from the farmhouse. On investigation we found a Reedbuck lamb that had been separated from its mother. We tried to put the lamb over the fence so that its mother could rejoin it. We could see her on the kikuyu paddock. However it was too close to the farmhouse and she was too nervous to approach, so I had to pick it up and take it to the trees on the other side of the paddock. The tale ends well, as that afternoon I saw a small herd of reedbuck around the lambs location. When I investigated later the lamb was gone.

I have posted a set of photos here showing the drama. The photos were taken by Karianne Jensen and Marius Houm, who kindly gave me permission to display them.
